ABOUT ME
I started teaching high school science (chemistry, physics and general science) in 2005, after switching careers from chemical engineering. My research work in ChE involved semiconductor microlithography processes, and while I miss working so closely with the tech industry, I have truly enjoyed my work in the classroom. What I love most about this profession is the ability to foster students' development of problem solving skills, a can-do attitude, a sense of scientific ethics, and an appreciation (and maybe fascination) with the capabilities of science & technology.
My personal interests and activities include spending time with family, running, knitting and crocheting, music and reading (science fiction and fantasy are favorites, as well as non-fiction historical accounts of technical feats). As a family we love hiking outdoors - the picture at right is from our Summer 2015 trip to Crater Lake, OR. The banner photo above is a lovely view from the Cape Lookout Trail on the Oregon Coast.
